Marktstraße 39, Eschwege

The ventilation slots or grills are still visible at Marktstraße 39, a two-story half-timbered former meat shop built in 1711, in Eschwege, Germany. These slots are very functional as they allow air to circulate through while preventing large objects from entering the ductwork.

Typically, ventilation slots are found above the windows, doors, or on the roof. Some slots have decorative frames or panels

Besides the ventilation above the window, there are slots above the front and side doors.

This front door has a round arch portal. A portal is the opening to a house or building. The 'BH 1711 1 CS' was engraved above the portal.
