Hauptstraße 26, Dillenburg

Traditionally, picture frame moldings are installed on the interior wall of a house. However, in this three-story half-timbered house at Hauptstraße 26 in Dillenburg, Germany, the exterior wall has picture frame moldings with diagonal boards. The frames add style and character to the structure.

Notably, two side-by-side doors lead to separate areas.

The facade of the house has pilasters, which resemble flat wall pillars. These pilasters project slightly from the wall and have capitals and pedestals.

There are different pilasters in the house. The ones in the middle of the second floor have flutings. Flutings are vertical, shallow grooves.

Unlike other pilasters, the ones in the middle of the third floor are two-toned spirals with screwed flutings.

A tree of life motif, which depicts the succession of generations, adorns the sides of the wall dormer. Here, the tree of life motif is in the form of grapes, leaves, and vines.
