Griedeler Straße 12, Butzbach

The striking feature of this half-timbered house at Griedeler Straße 12 in Butzbach, Germany, is the two-story oriel window in the middle of the facade.

An oriel window is a type of bay window that projects from the upper story wall and does not reach the ground. Usually, an oriel window is supported by a corbel, a bracket made of wood, stone, or metal.

Here, the two-story oriel window projects from the second floor and extends up to the attic. It rests on four ornate wooden corbels.

A pointed roof crowns the oriel window . The roof is decorated with a pinnacle, a small spire. This pinnacle has a decorative finial or hip knob.

A house inscription includes the name of the builder and the year the house was built. According to the inscription, Nikolaus Seulburger and his wife, Anna Margareta, built the house.
